Backyard patios and slab extensions for Port Allen homes, in broom, stained, or stamped & stained finishes. 3,500 PSI with fiber in every pour.
Port Allen sits right across the Mississippi from downtown Baton Rouge, where river, rail, I-10 and LA 1 all come together. Parish Concrete Contractors pours driveways, patios, shop pads and concrete slabs in Port Allen and across West Baton Rouge Parish.
Port Allen backyards are often flat and low, so we pitch patios to move water toward a drain or the yard, not toward the house. We pour broom, stained or stamped finishes.
Parish poured a concrete shop pad for our new building. Dante explained the preparation process and answered all of our questions before work began. Great experience overall.

Book My Free WalkthroughPort Allen is built on Mississippi River alluvial ground, and that means heavy clay, sometimes called gumbo, that gets slick and soft when it's wet and cracks wide open in a dry spell. That kind of soil makes base prep and compaction a big deal, especially for slabs that will carry vehicles. Much of the city is low and flat, with drainage running to roadside ditches and canals, so getting the slab elevation and slope right matters. Residential areas range from older homes near Court Street and the riverfront to newer subdivisions toward the edges of town. The city also has a lot of industrial and logistics activity around the port and LA 415, and that brings truck traffic onto streets and lots that weren't originally built for it.
Permits for work inside Port Allen city limits go through the City of Port Allen or the West Baton Rouge Parish permit office, depending on the project. Driveway connections to state routes like LA 1 or LA 415 typically need an LA DOTD access permit.
We handle the permits, HOA approval and 811 locates for you.

On a job with this many moving parts, something will eventually go sideways. When it does, you call your project manager and it gets handled. If it is bigger than that, I come look at it myself.

Concrete footings in your concrete pad.
This is what will support that future patio cover you may be considering. Our sister company Parish Outdoor Builders specializes in patio covers, so we pour all patio pads with the future in mind.
A concrete patio is where a lot of South Louisiana living happens, from a weekend crawfish boil to a quiet cup of coffee before work. We build patios that drain away from your house, stand up to our heat and rain, and finish the way you want them to look.
The most common patio regret is building it too small. Before you settle on a size, set out the furniture you plan to use, add room to walk around the table and grill, and think about where the afternoon sun hits. Most patios connect to the back of the house, so door locations and the step down from the slab inside matter. If you're thinking about a cover, pergola, outdoor kitchen or fire pit down the road, tell us at the walkthrough. Planning for those now can save you from cutting into a new slab later. Your project manager will help you mark the layout on the ground so you can see the real size before anything is formed.
A patio doesn't carry vehicles, but it still sits on the same clay that swells and shrinks with South Louisiana weather. We excavate to firm ground, form the shape, and pour a commercial 3,500 PSI mix with fiber included, the same mix we use on every job. Fiber spreads through the whole slab and helps control the small shrinkage cracks that form as concrete cures. Expansion joints go in where they're required, including where the patio meets your foundation, so the two can move independently. We don't add wire mesh by default. If you'd like rebar in your patio, ask your project manager and we'll quote it. Excavation, forming, the pour and expansion joints are all part of the written scope.
Broom finish is simple, durable and gives good grip when the patio is wet, which matters in a place where it rains as often as it does here. Stained concrete adds color and can make a patio feel more finished without changing the texture much. Stamped and stained concrete gives the look of stone, slate or brick and is the most decorative option. A few things to weigh: darker colors absorb more heat in summer sun, so lighter tones are easier on bare feet. Stamped surfaces are smoother than broom finish, so keep slope and shade in mind where moss and mildew like to grow. We'll bring samples to the walkthrough so you can see the options in your own light.
A patio sits right against your foundation, so it has to send water away from the house every time it rains. That means a gentle, steady slope toward the yard or a drain, with the slab set low enough below your door thresholds that wind-driven rain doesn't run inside. Gutters and downspouts matter too: a downspout that empties onto a new patio can create a sheet of water or a slick spot, so we look at where they discharge. At the free walkthrough we shoot the grade and look at where water goes today before we plan the pour. Our pricing assumes a typical lot with limited grade changes. If your backyard has a big slope or a low spot that holds water, we'll point it out and price that work separately.
The cheapest bid is rarely the cheapest job. Put every bid side by side and check these six things.
Every pour is a commercial 3,500 PSI mix with fiber, included automatically. Most bids pour 3,000 and charge extra for fiber.
For most projects, one total price in writing the same day we walk it.
No mid-job price changes unless the scope changes. If we under quoted the job, we eat it.
$2,500,000 General Liability & Workers Comp. Coverage.
Yes, with the right prep. We excavate, build a proper base and grade the slab to drain, and every pour is a 3,500 PSI mix with fiber included.
Tell us on the walkthrough. For commercial vehicles and heavy trailers, we recommend adding steel highway mesh or rebar, and we'll include it in your proposal.
For most projects, yes. After the free walkthrough, we put one total price in writing.
For most projects, you get a Same Day Proposal after the free on-site walkthrough. It's one comprehensive scope of work with a total price in writing, so you're not left waiting a week for numbers.
In most cases, yes. We'll look at the condition and height of your current slab at the walkthrough and plan the new section to drain correctly alongside it. New concrete rarely matches the color of an old slab exactly, so a stained or stamped finish across both is worth talking through if a matching look matters to you.
Every patio is poured with a commercial 3,500 PSI mix with fiber included, and we don't use wire mesh by default. If you'd like rebar, ask your project manager and we'll quote it as part of your proposal.
It shouldn't if it's graded correctly, and that's a big part of what we check at the walkthrough. We shoot the grade, look at where water goes today and where your downspouts empty, and slope the slab away from your foundation.
